The PSOE agrees to break the pact with CC in the Arrecife City Council

After the breaking of the pact with the Canarian Coalition in the Cabildo, the one in the Arrecife City Council was an alliance with its days numbered. In addition, the establishment of the Management in the Local Grouping made imminent the decision that the Island Executive of the PSOE took this Wednesday to ask the councilors of the capital's Consistory to "leave the Government group immediately". For the island socialists "the availability of the councilors to abide by these instructions is clear", since "there is only one Socialist Party and it responds in a unitary way", so this Thursday they will have to present the letter of resignation to their positions.

The decision was made with one abstention and two votes against. The vote was held after the councilors of the City Council, among whom were Carmelo García Déniz and Emilia Osuna, in addition to Óscar Torres, who resigned from his position on his own initiative this Tuesday, left the Executive, since they had been invited during the first part to assess the situation of the Consistory.

The Island considers that the Arrecife pact is "unviable", after the break in the Cabildo occurred due to a "total and absolute loss of confidence with CC". They returned, in this way, to refer to the press conference "inopportune, impertinent and unacceptable", which was carried out by the Canarian Coalition, and which led to the breaking of the Government pact in the First Institution.

With this decision, the leadership of the PSOE assures that it "closes a page", and "resolves the internal issues" that have confronted the Local Grouping with the Island since the appointment of Enrique Pérez Parrilla as candidate for the mayoralty of Arrecife. Although on this matter, Miguel Ángel Leal returned to assure last Monday, in a meeting in which he received the support of almost a hundred militants, that the Arrecife Plan has been the cause of these disagreements. In fact, the initial approval of the Plan, on which the Government group had assured that it would take place in this legislature, remains in doubt with this decision.

Other matters

The Island Executive also served to determine the Electoral Committee that Carlos Espino heads this year, replacing Miguel Ángel Leal, who was in charge of coordinating the campaign in recent legislatures. Espino has notified that the secretaries of the Local Groupings and Miguel González, communication secretary of the PSC, will be present in the Committee. The recent dissolution of the Executive Committee of Arrecife and the dismissal of its secretary leaves Miguel Ángel Leal out of this Committee.
