The first section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will judge this Thursday three defendants for entering the house of an Italian citizen in Puerto del Carmen with the intention of "appropriating cash". The victim was shot and needed two months to recover from his injuries.
The Prosecutor's Office asks for a total of 56 years in prison for the three defendants. Nicolás D.C., Mohamed A.M.E. and Wilkin Luis E.M., are accused of robbery and use of weapons, a crime of injury with weapons and illegal possession of weapons. In addition, the Prosecutor's Office charges the latter two with an alleged crime of attempted murder. Specifically, the Public Prosecutor's Office is asking for 9 years and seven months in prison for Nicolás D.C., 22 years and seven months in prison for Wilkin Luis E.M., and 23 years and seven months for Mohamed A.M.E.
According to the indictment to which La Voz has had access, the accused "jointly devised a plan consisting of going to the victim's home", "dressed in a way that she could not recognize them" and were "provided with a large white weapon, a katana and a previously modified blank gun, knowing that it made it suitable for shooting". According to this document, the purpose was to "illegally appropriate the cash" they found in the house.
The victim managed to escape the attack by entering the living room and closing the glass door, but one of the defendants, according to the Prosecutor's Office, "fired the weapon pointing" at the man of Italian nationality "with the intention of ending his life".
The events occurred in the early morning of September 1, 2010. To enter the victim's house, they had to overcome a wall of approximately 120 centimeters to reach the vicinity of the victim's living room, according to the Prosecutor's Office.
