The Popular Party of Tías has shown its "concern" for the situation experienced this past Sunday, when the coast of the tourist town of Puerto de Carmen "was once again the scene of a new discharge of sewage on Avenida de Las Playas, near the Tourist Office".
A fact that the councilors of the municipal group of the Popular Party consider "lamentable, because it is returning to a problem" that they say that "the government of Pancho Hernández managed to stop during his years of management at the head of the Consistory". "It cannot be that with the arrival of the socialists the same old problems that had already been overcome thanks to the work and rigor of the City Council to demand that Canal Gestión Lanzarote maintain the networks correctly resurface," they say.
"The beaches are one of the main attractions of the tourist town of Puerto del Carmen, so it cannot be allowed that, in these bad times for the sector, there are devalued beaches due to the poor management of the government", they say from the PP, which points out that "to the issue of spills we must add that the lifeguard services are at a minimum and that currently no blue flag is flying".

In addition, the party maintains that "the circumstances in which the spills occurred on Sunday afternoon do not correspond to the usual causes of this type of problem". "On the one hand, it cannot be said that it was due to rain and the overflow of the networks, because there was no rainfall throughout the day; and on the other, neither due to saturation of the sewage network because at this time the occupation of the accommodation plant is almost anecdotal compared to any other year," they point out.
For the Popular Party "it is essential that the Tías government does not let a day go by without demanding an explanation from the public company and, most importantly, the adoption of all necessary measures to prevent these episodes from happening again".
