The PP denounces that Arrecife will have to return another 318,000 euros from the ARUS of Valterra and Titerroy

The PP has denounced that Arrecife will have to return 318,000 euros to the Cabildo "for not lifting a finger to advance in the renovation project of the Valterra and Titerroy homes, included in the ARUS agreed upon in their day with the Government of the State".

According to the popular party, the money that the City Council will have to return corresponds to two subsidies granted by the Cabildo in 2014 and 2015, worth 226,775.08 euros and 91,870.68 euros, respectively, destined to collaborate in the execution of these projects. "Items that the Popular Party initially introduced in the island budgets, via amendment, in order to cover part of the 5% that residents had to pay for rehabilitation, after studying the needs and economic situation of each family," they recall.

"The Popular Party's commitment to the ARUS has been total and absolute since they were promoted under the PP government in the City Council and with Ástrid Pérez also in the Government of the Cabildo," says the deputy spokesperson, Jacobo Medina, who states that it has been a "hard blow" for the affected residents "the fact that the municipal government gradually distanced itself from an initiative that contemplated the recovery of 40 homes initially and that so much effort was made to include in the general state budgets at the time".

"It causes a lot of indignation and also a lot of sadness to see how the socialist mayor has given up leading this important project, of which, let us remember, 166 families were waiting and are still waiting," says the councilor.

"Terrible municipal policy"

Medina emphasizes "the lack of commitment that has existed on the part of the PSOE and the mayor Eva de Anta with the ARUS of Valterra and Titerroy". "Because although unforeseen events can always arise in this type of project, there is also a way to save them when you put effort and determination into it." "In this case it has not been like that and what we are seeing is that the government group has thrown in the towel because it has not even availed itself of the extension that the State contemplated through the new Housing Plan," he says.

For the popular party, "Arrecife has lost a golden opportunity to carry out a project that, contrary to what happens on other occasions, had the necessary financing for its execution." "Unfortunately, the PSOE government has no capacity or leadership and every day that passes continues to add victims to its terrible municipal policy," concludes Jacobo Medina.
