The municipal plenary of Yaiza will debate next Friday the motion presented by the Popular Party in which Óscar Noda's Government is urged to undertake, in an "immediate and urgent" manner, improvement and conditioning works on the facilities of the Playa Blanca Bus Station, whose condition is "certainly regrettable" in many aspects.
The Populars bring to the table the "accessibility problems" presented by the station and that prevent guaranteeing the "complete mobility" of the users, in addition to the "deficiencies" detected in the lighting itself. “To the accessibility difficulties we must also add problems of maintenance, security and cleaning that the site presents, especially in the common areas,” says the municipal spokesperson for the PP, Juan Monzón.
Among the deficiencies detailed in the motion are the situation of the bathrooms with practically all the "broken toilets or with damage, or the dirt on the floor with stains impossible to remove no matter how hard the cleaning service tries to leave it presentable."
“Of course, what is clear is that the current state of the station is not adequate and does not respond to a building that is used by hundreds of residents and tourists a day,” Monzón emphasizes.
“In the shade”
Among the party's motions is also the preparation and implementation of a plan that "contemplates the creation of new shade areas, both natural and artificial, in children's play areas, schoolyards, green areas, as well as squares and pedestrian streets" of the municipality.
In this sense, they advocate for the "placement of new canopies at taxi and bus stops, the planting of trees and installation of pergolas, micro-perforated structures or sails"; the most appropriate in each case.
"In a municipality with a dry climate, especially sunny compared to other points on the island and with average maximum temperatures of around 29 degrees, it is essential to have shade areas in which to shelter from the sun and its harmful effects," he highlighted.
“We advocate making Yaiza a more friendly and comfortable municipality, which invites you to continue walking through it, even under the pressure of high temperatures, with shade environments that make it easier for citizens to enjoy our squares, parks and streets, which in turn would have a favorable impact on tourism, commerce and hospitality”, defends Juan Monzón.
