The carnival "joke" that the PIL made last year with the dissemination of a university graduation photo with photographs of former members of the Party of Independents of Lanzarote in which they were accused of being turncoats, led to the belief that the pamphlets that appeared this Tuesday with obscene photographs and insulting messages were also the work of this party. However, Antonio Hernández, president of the PIL, has expressed his "greatest rejection" and assures that it seems to him a "carnival prank out of place and a lack of respect".

In the pamphlet there are two photomontages in which the president of the Cabildo, Inés Rojas and the mayor of Arrecife, Mª Isabel Déniz, are shown in obscene positions, as part of an advertising poster for a supposed show, in which they also dedicate an offensive epithet to them. Next to these, there is another image in which Juan Pedro Hernández, Marcos Páez and Domingo Cejas are dressed as Mexicans, with the nickname of the "Zapatista Mandarria Trio".

In addition to this pamphlet, La Graciosa has also been wallpapered with a copy of the graduation photo that the members of the PIL were in charge of distributing by hand last year, but which has been manipulated and to which insulting pseudonyms have been added next to each former member of APL, who appear as "the cokehead", "the drunk", "the bandit" or "the slut". And although in this case, the initials of the Party of Independents of Lanzarote appear on the pamphlet, the PIL does not contemplate taking any legal action since they consider that the poster "has simply been manipulated" and that those affected are already studying to report it, although they still do not know whether individually or from the Canarian Coalition.

Antonio Hernández assures that the pamphlets that were distributed last year were made as a "funny and friendly joke", but that what has been done now is "offensive and disrespectful", both from the personal and political point of view. The councilor of Teguise, Domingo Cejas, who also appears in the photomontage and who regrets "deeply that two mothers and representatives of the two most important institutions have been attacked in this way", has received "positively" this disavowal but has added that "it does not prevent us from continuing to search around there", because "in principle it seems to be the work of a formation; I don't think any ordinary citizen would do this".

On the other hand, Antonio Hernández maintains that the authors may be within the ranks of the Canarian Coalition because "we are in an election period", and insinuates that it could respond to internal differences within CC regarding the preparation of the lists. "Although in this era we are always accused, "we have been and will continue to be scrupulous with our advertising", assures Hernández.
