The opposition of the Arrecife City Council, composed of seven councilors from PIL, PNL, PP, CCN and Alternativa Ciudadana, have requested this Tuesday the holding of an extraordinary plenary session and the revocation of the decree by which on June 6, the mayor of Arrecife, María Isabel Déniz, provisionally approved the Special Plan of the Port of Arrecife (PEPA). "We want this Plenary to be held because it has been approved by decree without counting on the opposition and without some members of the government group," said Pedro de Armas, spokesman for the PNL in the Consistory.
The opposition also intends the participation of those citizens and groups that in their day presented allegations against this Plan, which the Deputy Mayor, Nuria Cabrera, has described as "impossible", since current legislation prevents the participation in the plenary sessions of people outside the Municipal Corporation. Nuria Cabrera has assured that the Government group, obliged to convene the extraordinary plenary session because the requesting councilors represent a sufficient number for it to be done, "in no case will revoke the decision of the mayor, since if María Isabel Déniz decided to approve the PEPA through a decree, it was to advance in the process, and not to go back after having achieved so many things".
The holding of this Plenary, [ whose request by the opposition had already been anticipated by La Voz ->7494], will annul the monographic meeting of the Board of Spokespersons, whose convocation had been announced by the mayor in the last ordinary plenary session, last week.
More criticism of the mayor
The PP has denounced that María Isabel Déniz has not yet delivered to the opposition the plan of the Port resulting once the allegations of the PEPA have been analyzed, documentation that according to the popular ones, was delivered to them on May 1.
On the other hand, the PP positively values that "the Mayor has taken into account its proposal to organize a meeting of the port technicians with all individuals, political parties and groups so that they explain the report issued by the Port Authority".
