The mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, has been in quarantine for more than a week, after having been in contact with someone diagnosed with Covid-19. In addition, he has taken two private tests on his own, testing positive in the first and negative in the second, and is waiting for the Health Service to perform a PCR to confirm or rule out the result.

"I feel perfectly fine. In all the days I have not had any symptoms", Machín pointed out on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero, where he explained that he has been in home isolation since last Friday, August 21, after on Monday the 17th he held a meeting with the Basketball Federation.

"The meeting was on a Monday, we finished in an hour or so, and on Friday morning I received a call from a lady who was one of the trackers and she told me that I had been in a meeting in which there was a person with coronavirus", the mayor pointed out, stating that he was then informed that he had to be quarantined "immediately", as were all the people who had participated in the meeting, including the Councilor for Sports, Vianney Rodríguez.

"I was going to the Town Hall early and I turned around to go home", said Jesus Machín, who indicated that that Friday he did not go to the Town Hall or "anywhere" and that since then he has been working from home "by telephone".

His children, also in isolation

Likewise, the mayor of Tinajo has confirmed that his children, the Cabildo councilor Migdalia Machín and the regional parliamentarian Jesús Machín, are also in isolation. "On Saturday they called me again, they told me who I had been in contact with, that it was only my children and my sister, and they also have them in quarantine", he stated.

After that, the mayor of Tinajo stated that he has not had "any test" done to him from the Molina Orosa Hospital, but that he took "two tests" on his own, testing positive in the first and negative in the second. "But the tests say they are not valid and I have not had a PCR", said the mayor, who stated that he is now waiting for the Health Service to perform a PCR, which is scheduled to be performed "next Friday".
