The Island Water Council of Lanzarote has proceeded to confiscate the desalination plant, treatment plant, pumping stations and supply network of the Montaña Roja Partial Plan to "ensure the supply in this residential and tourist area" of Playa Blanca, according to a brief statement.

The president of the Cabildo and, in turn, president of the Island Water Council and the Water Consortium of Lanzarote, Pedro San Ginés, will offer a press conference this Thursday to give details of the seizure process of this hydraulic infrastructure, located in Yaiza, where there are "more than 6,000 resident neighbors and 9,000 tourist beds".

The Island Water Council has among its functions to grant, concede, authorize, certify and other acts related to water.
