The Haría City Council, in collaboration with the Department of Animal Welfare of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, organizes the first Animal Welfare Conference, which will take place on August 9 and 10 in the Plaza de Haría. The main objective of this event is to promote responsible pet ownership and promote ethical practices in the management of pets.

The Councilor of the Area, Marcos Lemes, highlights the importance of these conferences, since "they are essential to educate our community about the responsibility of having a pet and how we can contribute to improving the welfare of the animals with whom we live on our streets and homes."

Likewise, Lemes points out that "these conferences represent a unique opportunity to learn and reflect on how we can improve the treatment and care of animals." In addition, he adds that "in this summer season, prone to pet abandonment, we invite all residents and visitors to participate and be part of the change towards a more conscious and respectful municipality."

The day will conclude with the intervention of the professor of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the ULPGC, Octavio Pérez Luzardo, who will discuss the new trends and changes in the management of these pets, providing successful examples and proposals for the future.
