The Governing Council has approved this Monday the favorable vote of the representative of the Administration of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands - and of the public law entities linked to or dependent on it - in the General Meeting of the public mercantile company Gestur Canarias S.A. to authorize the purchase of shares by the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
In this way, the Cabildo of Lanzarote will become part of the shareholding of the public company supervised by the Ministry of Territorial Policy, Territorial Cohesion and Water of the Government of the Canary Islands, once the next general meeting is held.
Specifically, in the Governing Council this Monday, the authorization for the purchase of a total of 10 shares by the Cabildo of Lanzarote has been approved, which will become part of the mercantile company as a shareholder, together with the Government of the Canary Islands, the Island Council of Tenerife, the Island Council of La Palma and the public housing company Visocan, in addition to the own treasury stock that Gestur Canarias reserves.
With this acquisition, the Cabildo of Lanzarote, which already had the status of its own means of Gestur Canarias, will be able to count on the public company to carry out all kinds of projects not only of the Cabildo itself but also of its dependent organizations and entities.
Among the functions included in the corporate purpose of the public company Gestur Canarias is the promotion of actions linked to the instruments of territorial planning and planning, as well as the development of urbanization projects and urban development activity.
In addition, the public company can manage the promotion and planning of land for industrial, commercial, service and residential purposes.
Likewise, Gestur Canarias is authorized to assume assignments related to planning, urban and architectural projects, as well as the preparation of specifications, bidding, awarding and execution of works. It can also manage the processing of subsidies, offering technical and administrative support to public administrations.
