Following the traffic accident that occurred last Sunday, February 11 on the road from Tías to Puerto del Carmen, where a 29-year-old Colombian woman died as a result of the collision of the vehicle in which she was traveling with a motorcycle, the driver of the car fled the scene.
According to the Traffic Civil Guard, the driver would have fled the scene minutes after the collision, thus abandoning his partner, who died. The man, 25 years old and a native of Colombia, would have arrived in Puerto del Carmen and later would have taken a plane to Madrid. There he was located and "by good means" he was convinced to return to Lanzarote. Upon arriving on the island, he was transferred to the Civil Guard barracks to testify, and later he was brought to justice.
The accident, which occurred around 6:52 a.m. on Sunday, February 11, resulted in one woman dead and one 27-year-old man slightly injured.
At that time, 112 received a call reporting that a motorcycle had collided with a car and that one of the occupants of the vehicle was trapped inside.
The health services released the woman trapped inside the vehicle and attended to the injuries she presented, although she died due to the injuries caused in the collision. They also attended to the driver of the motorcycle who was later evacuated by a Red Cross ambulance.
