The Arrecife City Council has rescued a "dusty file" that has been in the Classified Activities office since at least 2016. This is the procedure that investigates whether the PaleoTraining premises on Avenida Fred Olsen complies with the law and is registered as a gym, or whether, on the contrary, as its neighbors complain, suffering from "noise and vibrations," it is registered as a physiotherapy center, despite operating as a gym.
According to the head of Infractions of Arrecife, Kevin Cortés, in an intervention on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero this Wednesday, "for a few days now" he has been resuming the file that indicates that this establishment is "registered in the category of physiotherapy center/bar" and that the person in charge of the premises, as La Voz advanced, "renounced at the time to exploit it as a bar."
"The Police are doing the pertinent steps in terms of documentation and I have a mediating part. Sometimes a good agreement is better than a bad trial," added Cortés.
The councilman met on Tuesday morning with the owner of PaleoTraining to point out that the activities he is carrying out in the premises "are merely gym activities," despite being registered as a physiotherapy center, according to Cortés himself in the morning show Buenos días, Lanzarote.
The community of neighbors has requested "on several occasions" and through electronic headquarters to the City Council to verify if it complies with the law and if it has changed the activity. After several notifications "without response," according to the neighbors, the premises continue to be used as a gym based on the paleo training method. In addition, they have pointed out that the activity generates annoyances caused by the noises of the logs, as well as the cracks that have appeared in the ceiling of the building's parking lot.
According to La Voz, on July 27, 2016, the Arrecife City Council decreed the immediate and voluntary closure of the premises and withdrew the voluntary declaration. However, it was not closed then, according to the neighbors themselves notified the council days after the aforementioned decree was issued.
For the moment, the councilman of Infractions has assured that the Police will visit the premises again to know if it complies with the law and has concluded warning that "the fact that the mediating part is important does not mean that we are approving disobedience to the law."
Sources from the City Council have revealed to this editorial staff that if the file is resolved, the owner of PaleoTraining de Arrecife would face a sanction of more than 15,001 euros.
