The Canary Islands Government will try to reach an agreement with the hotel sector in Tenerife, after the order of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands, which has agreed to suspend as a precautionary measure the update of agreed measures, based on the Government agreement of June 19, which established the closure of the interior of the hotel premises and the limitation of capacity to 50% on terraces for level 3, to which the island of Tenerife passed last Saturday.

This was stated by the president of the regional Executive, Ángel Víctor Torres, who precisely participated this Tuesday in a technical table with representatives of the hotel and restaurant sector of all the Canary Islands, in which the president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Pedro Martín, the president of the Canary Islands Federation of Municipalities, María Brito, the Minister of Health of the Canary Islands Government, Blas Trujillo, the director of the Canary Islands Health Service, Conrado Domínguez, and the General Director of Public Health, José Juan Alemán, were present.

During this meeting it was learned that the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands and it was agreed to hold another meeting this Wednesday, at 2:30 p.m., in which the representatives of the sector can make their agreed proposals, according to the moment that the island of Tenerife is experiencing with respect to infections.

"Tomorrow we will sit down with them again,” said Ángel Víctor Torres, who has recognized the responsibility of the sector. Likewise, the president of the Canary Islands has insisted that “respecting the pronouncement of Justice", "formulas" will be sought. "Because none of us who have sat at that table want the level of contagion to rise,” he said.

For that reason, the head of the Executive has valued that everyone has agreed to meet again in 24 hours. “It is true that the TSJC order gives the Government three days to present relevant reports, but it will be much better if an agreement can be reached at the technical table, which has been working for some time, on an island with significant rates of contagion,” Torres said.

Finally, the president insisted that “the decisions adopted at each moment and on each island are taken based on scientific reports and that the Executive's priority has always been and will continue to be to save lives.”
