The Department of Cleaning of the Arrecife City Council, led by Carmen Ramos, is carrying out a campaign to collect belongings in the Altavista neighborhood.
The capital's Consistory has placed trays in several streets so that citizens can deposit those utensils that they consider out of use. These trays will be until January 31 on Jerez and Temisa streets at the intersection with Málaga street.
The City Council informs that once these objects and belongings have been collected, the same will be done in other neighborhoods of the capital. However, it should be remembered that this municipal service can be requested any day of the year by calling 928 81 55 60.
Likewise, the Corporation has reported that the campaign carried out during the month of December in the Tinasoria neighborhood has resulted in the collection of 12,670 kilos of belongings, which had to be taken out of the area in twelve trips.
Prohibitions
On the other hand, the Local Council recalls through a press release transmitted to the editorial staff of this newspaper that "according to the text of the Municipal Ordinance on Cleaning and Waste Collection, it is strictly prohibited to deposit garbage on sidewalks, next to underground containers, public roads, etc."
Regarding businesses, the rule establishes that "garbage will be deposited until it is collected by the Municipal Cleaning Service in standardized containers, and the owners of the same are obliged to maintain and clean them.
People who, for any reason, are in charge of commercial establishments are obliged to deposit cardboard, plastic, newspapers and similar packaging properly packaged or tied for possible selective collection."
In addition, the statement reminds businesses that because the City Council "intends to eliminate garbage containers in the downtown area of Arrecife, businesses located in that area must take out the garbage between 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. in perfectly closed bags and in their mandatory containers, for which each business must have its garbage cart, as well as a room enabled for this type of deposit."
Otherwise, "the Department will be obliged to implement the pertinent measures and the establishment that fails to comply with the rule may be sanctioned with a fine of up to 601 euros."
