The Cabildo receives more than 2,000 applications for business aid, which represents 60% of the budgeted amount

The aid from the Cabildo of Lanzarote aimed at alleviating the effects of Covid-19 among small businesses and self-employed workers is halfway through its planned term. With ten days left before the possibility of submitting this subsidy ends, more than fifty percent of the six million that have been allocated in this first call has already been committed.

According to the Corporation, as of this Tuesday, 2,184 aid applications have been requested, representing an amount of 3,854,500 euros. The last day to submit it is August 12.

Exactly 639 small companies and 1,545 self-employed workers have already submitted the documentation and processed this aid through the electronic headquarters.

So far, 1,656 telephone calls have been answered and face-to-face assistance has been offered to 137 people.

By municipalities, Tías stands out especially, which has submitted 523 applications. Arrecife, the municipality with the largest business weight, which brings together 60% of the activity, has submitted 606 applications; Teguise 363, San Bartolomé 271, Yaiza 281, Haría 62 and Tinajo 78.

 

The keys to the aid

The aid from the Cabildo of Lanzarote is aimed at all economic sectors that were active before March 14, 2020 and that are still active. To apply, it is necessary to have had a decrease in turnover equal to or greater than 30 percent. The comparable period is the entire year 2020 with the year 2019. The amount to be granted depends on the number of workers and ranges from 1,500 euros to 6,000 euros. The aid is compatible with other aid granted for the same reason.
