The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Transportation area, will allocate a total of 261,000 euros in subsidies aimed at the taxi sector. This was announced by the Councilor of the Transportation area, Nerea Santana, during the different meetings she held with the representatives of all the Taxi Cooperatives on the island, in which the Councilor of the Mobility area, Pancho Hernández, was also present.

Santana addressed with the island's taxi professionals the "delicate situation in which the sector finds itself, due to the health and economic crisis we are experiencing due to the coronavirus." "From the Cabildo we are fully aware that there are certain groups that are having a really bad time, in this case the taxi drivers have been out of work for many months," the councilor stressed.

In addition, she detailed that "all taxi licenses on the island, which are up to date, will receive a direct financial aid of at least 600 euros." "We already have the bases for these subsidies and they will be announced shortly," explained Nerea Santana.
