The Cabildo of Lanzarote, in collaboration with the Government of the Canary Islands, organizes the III Edition of Expoenergía on November 18 and 19 at the Integrated Vocational Training Center (CIFP) of Zonzamas in Arrecife, to show the latest advances in renewable energies. Through this fair, it aims to raise awareness among society about the importance of incorporating these systems and technologies to create a sustainable home or eco-house.

The initiative is part of the fight against climate change and offers citizens multiple alternatives to make efficient use of energy.

The Councilor for Industry and Energy of the island institution, Ariagona González, explains that "there will be different activities and stands that will highlight the importance of taking advantage of nature's resources to create a green community."

"Administrations must continue working to implement renewable energies on the islands. But it is important that citizens also commit to the transition because to mitigate the effects of climate change, joint action is needed," González acknowledges.

In the same vein, she points out that "in the Canary Islands, we are moving forward with small actions. The free bus service, starting on January 1, is an important step to promote public transport and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which account for 27.09% of the Archipelago's pollution."

In this sense, the fair will promote the use of hybrid and electric vehicles. This day will also be an opportunity for technology companies, green associations, or public institutions, which will be able to showcase their innovative projects in favor of the environment.

A positive fair

The councilor admits that the fair will not only be positive from an environmental point of view, but also from an economic perspective. "The energy area reflects that renewables have generated 85% more jobs from 2010 to 2022. It is a sector that is increasingly in demand worldwide and that all countries will soon have to incorporate into their territories to comply with the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN's 2030 Agenda," clarifies Ariagona González. She also adds that the CIFP Zonzamas aims to be a pioneer in the training of future workers.

"Our intention is to welcome as many people as possible. In fact, we have set up a children's play area so that parents can enjoy the exhibition while their children carry out different workshops related to science." In addition, Ariagona recalls that the peculiarity of this edition is the creation of a mobile application, through which visitors can access information about the event and reserve places in the dining room.

Admission to the fair is free and will remain open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
