The Governing Council of the Cabildo of Lanzarote approved this Monday the award of the service of conservation and ordinary maintenance of the margins and garden areas of the roads of the island network for a value of 2,749,375.94 euros to the UTE Aceinsa Movilidad S.A. and Señalizaciones Conejeras S.L. The contract will have a duration of two years, establishing the possibility that it can be extended for 24 more months.

The president of the Cabildo, Maria Dolores Corujo, highlighted "the importance of this service, which is essential to maintain the environment of our roads in good condition and ensure that the island's road network can continue to honor our status as an island Biosphere Reserve and our commitment to the preservation of the environment".

Likewise, the president expressed her satisfaction because "in such an important tender, due to the object and the amount", it has been possible to introduce "social criteria in the specifications related to parity in management positions, the financing of projects of social and solidarity interest related to the object of the contract or the introduction of concrete measures to reconcile personal, work and family life, which is an important novelty compared to the previous concession".

For his part, the Councilor for Public Works, Planning and Project Coordination, Jacobo Medina, highlighted the economic effort that has been made by the corporation. "Our objective is none other than to adjust the service to be provided during the next two years to the current needs and the requests that may be made to us at specific times from the different municipalities," said Medina, who explained that "the scope of action will extend to the 344 kilometers of roads that make up the island network, as well as the 1,094,000 square meters of surface occupied by the margins and garden areas."

The award of the service of conservation and maintenance of the margins and garden areas will entail the hiring of twenty workers.
