The Cabildo of Lanzarote announces that it has awarded the company Playmedia the technological equipment of the Casa de los Volcanes of Jameos del Agua, so it will have "shortly with a technological endowment that will improve the experience of its visitors, offering them a digital, interactive and sustainable service".
From the Cabildo they point out that the bidding for this contract has been possible thanks to the direct subsidy granted by the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands to the Island Council for a value of 1.9 million euros.
"Visitors will be able to admire the original instruments used in monitoring the seismic activity of the islands, the iconic interactive panel on the tectonic plates of the planet and the always striking Hall of Mirrors", they emphasize from the Island Corporation.
In addition, informative projections will be offered on LED and touch screens, and there will be vinyl, interactive and audiovisual panels in small and large format. The Cabildo points out that the proposal is, as a whole, "an updated version of the House of Volcanoes from a natural, scientific, historical, technological and recreational point of view".
"The renovated Casa de los Volcanes will mark a new milestone in the island's exhibition spaces through a modern, accessible, coherent and sustainable proposal, which will allow you to admire original equipment and elements together with new content linked to the latest exhibition technologies to shape an immersive experience that will surprise the visitor”, says the president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo.
The Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Yaiza Castilla, explains that with this ambitious renovation it is possible to “value one of the most relevant natural heritages of our islands, the one formed by the Lanzarote Geopark and the Chinijo Archipelago, and also do so using the latest technology, so we strengthen our image as a modern and sustainable destination”.
Based on three major axes
From the Cabildo they explain that, according to the project 100% financed by the General Directorate of Tourism Infrastructure of the Government of the Canary Islands directed by Yaiza Castilla, the new Casa de los Volcanes will be articulated around "three major axes". The first of these will allow us to know "the formation process of the volcanic tube of La Corona and some of the secrets hidden in the Tunnel of the Atlantis".
On the other hand, the second exhibition space will show the work developed around the ‘Geopark Lanzarote-Chinijo Archipelago’. It will also have a room on the natural, cultural and ethnographic heritage of the island, and a second room with content that will help to understand the singularities of the territory.
The section ‘Planetary Analogues’ will show, finally, the mission of the European Space Agency and the result of the practical exercises it has carried out in Lanzarote as a testing ground for space technologies.
The Corporation points out that there will also be a room dedicated to the ‘Geodynamics and Cabinet Laboratory’, where you can enjoy the instruments and scientific equipment used for decades in the Casa de los Volcanes. In addition, visitors will be able to admire the collection of minerals donated by Rosario Lunar, professor at the Faculty of Geological Sciences of the Complutense University of Madrid, and a classroom with didactic content.
The contract has been awarded to the company Playmedia, which has collaboration agreements with seven universities in France, Italy, Spain and Poland and with companies in the technological, audiovisual, scenographic and lighting sectors of Spain, the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Morocco, Italy, Poland and France, among other countries. The Cabildo assures that this company has created experiences in cultural and leisure spaces with more than 70 entities that are enjoyed by more than eight million people a year.
