The beaches of Puerto del Carmen (Playa Grande, Playa Chica, Playa de los Pocillos and Playa de Matagorda) have managed to renew the 'Safe Tourism Certified' distinction, which certifies that they are a safe environment against the coronavirus.
Puerto del Carmen has had this seal on these four beaches since last summer, which were the first in the Canary Islands to obtain it, the beaches of Matagorda. This seal is managed by the ICTE (Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality), is supported by the Secretary of State for Tourism, and includes a broad catalog of UNE technical specifications developed from the guides prepared for the prevention of contagion against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
'Safe Tourism' is the only certificate against Covid-19 endorsed by the Ministry of Health and with this accreditation, Puerto del Carmen guarantees the correct implementation of hygiene-sanitary protocols on its coastline to protect users and its workers.
"Last week we received a visit from a technician from TÜV Rheinland, an auditing company of the Safe Tourism Certified (UNE-ISO/PAS 5643:2021 COVID-19), confirming that we have passed the audits of the four beaches without any deviation; these favorable reports went to the ICTE Committee, which ratified that our beaches are safe spaces against Covid-19, without a doubt, good news for all users, residents and tourists," said the Councilor for Beaches of Tías, Mame Fernández.
