Podemos Lanzarote has denounced that the Arrecife City Council "did not appear" at the measurement and demarcation of the boundary affecting the land in front of Ginory, for which the capital Consistory has to pay 22 million euros. A fact that, in the opinion of the councilor of the purple formation in the Cabildo, Myriam Barros, demonstrates "how little the mayor cares about the money of the residents of Arrecife, who will have to pay for the expropriation of the land at more than double its real value.”
According to Podemos, the Canary Islands Coast Demarcation carried out the demarcation of the boundary affecting this land this Monday and Tuesday. In this regard, it explains that the demarcation is the measurement on the ground of that line, which is part of the file of the assets of the public maritime-terrestrial domain of the coastal section between the Islote del Francés and the Muelle de Los Mármoles, with a length of 3,792 meters and which is made up of 118 landmarks.
The purple formation affirms that this Tuesday morning, the measurement of the line affecting that land was carried out by two technicians. However, it states that "despite the fact that Costas had sent a formal invitation to the Arrecife City Council, no representative has appeared to defend municipal interests." "Minutes were taken, before which interested parties could give their conformity or disagreement with the proposed line", they point out from Podemos, from where, however, they point out that "the City Council now has a period of fifteen days to propose an alternative."
According to the formation, the new measurement was requested in 2016 by the consumer association Aculanza, who did attend the event, as well as the residents of the two affected homes that are located within that land. "The objective of the new demarcation was to know what part of the land corresponds to the public maritime-terrestrial domain, what part corresponds to Puertos Canarios and what part belongs to the Arrecife City Council," they explain from Podemos, from where they also affirm to have attended the demarcation measurement event.
The formation criticizes that the Arrecife City Council is going to pay for that land "with a credit of 27 million euros, for an expropriation not resolved satisfactorily." In addition, it states that "the land has just over 10,000 square meters", but that "after this measurement it has been verified that half of the land is either public domain or belongs to Puertos Canarios and the other half, about 5,000 meters, are those that belong to the City Council, which in this way would have paid private individuals the public domain that corresponds by law to the State at the price of urban land."
"The mayor of Arrecife should not care that we pay more for land that is not worth it, since she has not come to accompany the Costas delegation that was measuring the new demarcation in the area today,” says the councilor of LEP- Sí Podemos in the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Myriam Barrios.
Podemos considers that the City Council is going to pay more than twenty million "for a more than suspicious expropriation, and that now its value is much lower." In addition, the purple formation considers that the attitude of Pérez and his government team “goes from neglect to negligence” and takes the opportunity to affirm that “they have not attended the demarcation of the Islote del Francés either, despite being summoned, both the City Council and the Cabildo.”
