There have been several dates that the Cabildo has given for the opening of the Arrecife bus station. First he said that the works would be finished in September 2010. Later, he delayed them until the end of the year, then until May 2011 and finally it will be in April 2012 when this infrastructure can reopen its doors after "an important intervention".

The new station will be inaugurated this Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. The opening ceremony will be attended by the president and vice president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés and Joaquín Caraballo, respectively. In addition, representatives of the operating company and the Arrecife City Council will also attend. After this inauguration ceremony, a press conference will be offered where the terms of the remodeling of the building will be explained, which should have reopened its doors in 2010.

The works of the bus station have not been without controversy since its inception. The works were delivered to the company B. Navarro Construcciones S.L, for an amount of 546,000 euros, plus another 124,000 euros of a first modified. However, shortly after the Cabildo announced that a second modification had been introduced, with an investment of 200,000 euros more.

In addition, the poor economic situation of the company made it impossible for it to complete the work. Finally, he ended up handing over the work to the Cabildo.
