As every season before the start of the harvest, the Teguise City Council has launched a special device to increase surveillance in agricultural holdings, which consists of increasing the police presence in farms and rural areas, as well as requesting the collaboration of the State Security Forces and Corps.
In this sense, the mayor of Teguise has requested the collaboration of the Local Police and the Civil Guard, "to avoid or minimize as much as possible the wave of thefts that usually threaten the farms of Teguise on these dates, which generates great concern among the owners".
Oswaldo Betancort has thanked "the coordination between everyone to increase efforts to monitor the sown fields." "We hope that this presence will intimidate the thieves on whom, without a doubt, the full weight of the law will fall if they are caught committing this type of theft," he added.
As head of the Police area, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, has indicated that "according to recommendations from the security agents themselves, quickly reporting a theft or robbery facilitates the investigation". "Therefore, we ask for maximum collaboration, that they alert the Police of any movement they detect and that they write down the license plates of suspicious vehicles," he pointed out.
"In addition to reinforcing security measures with a greater presence in the rural environment, with plainclothes agents and camouflaged vehicles, the help of the farmers themselves and the neighbors is important," said the Councilor for Agriculture of Teguise, Gerardo Rodríguez, who has made himself available to those affected.
