The Teguise City Council has announced transportation aid for students residing in the municipality for the 2024-2025 school year. For these subsidies, the council has allocated a total of 350,000 euros

The mayoress of Teguise, Olivia Duque, emphasizes the council's commitment to education and quality training for students. "We are the first municipality in Lanzarote to release these aids in a timely manner corresponding to the current school year," clarifies the mayoress.

The head of the Subsidies Area, Javier Díaz, underscores the importance of this measure that strengthens young people's access to education, both inside and outside of Teguise. He also recalls that last year, more than 600 students benefited from this action.

The Councilor for Education, Mar Boronat, indicates that these aids are essential to ensure that students can access the training they desire, as many are forced to leave Lanzarote to complete their studies. "It is our responsibility to facilitate their transfer and support them in this process," she affirms.

The aid will be distributed based on the distance of their educational centers. Those who study within the Island will receive 150 euros; those who are outside of Lanzarote but within the Canary Islands will obtain 500 euros, while students who train outside the Autonomous Community will be granted 600 euros.

Those interested in applying for these aids have 30 business days to submit the necessary documentation through the City Council's electronic headquarters.

Subsidies for projects promoted by educational centers and AMPAs

On the other hand, the City Council has also opened the application period for subsidies aimed at supporting projects promoted by educational centers and Associations of Mothers and Fathers of Students (AMPAs). The objective of this call is to promote educational improvement and active participation in the development of initiatives that favor the quality of education and family reconciliation.

The call has an economic allocation of 40,000 euros allocated to projects of educational centers, while 18,000 euros will be allocated to related complementary activities.

Interested entities may submit their projects within a period of ten business days, that is, until October 25, 2024. These must have the commitment and involvement of both the educational center and the corresponding AMPA. Both actors must coordinate to ensure the success of the proposed activities and the correct use of the allocated funds.
