The Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote “lends its machinery to all municipalities to repair agricultural roads, always following a strict order of request that must be formalized in writing, so the City Council of Teguise must wait its turn, like everyone else.” In this way, the Cabildo has responded to the councilor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, who this Wednesday demanded the use of machinery to repair agricultural and neighborhood roads.
This is how the head of the area, Andrés Stinga, has expressed himself, in the face of what he has called “surprising and unfounded demand by the Teguise City Council, by requiring the Cabildo, through a press release, to comply with all the municipalities that request machinery for the annual maintenance of dirt roads."
“Nerves due to the bad forecasts that the polls predict for the Canary Coalition”
“It is absurd that we are required to comply with a duty that we are already carrying out, both with Teguise and with the rest of the municipalities, and, furthermore, we are doing it as it should be, in strict order of arrival of the request letters,” says Andrés Stinga. The socialist councilor attributes this press release “to the nerves due to the bad forecasts that the polls predict for the Canary Coalition in Teguise.”
On the other hand, the councilor recalls that "the competence of repairing agricultural roads belongs to each city council. We collaborate with them from responsibility, because we are committed to the farmers of the island so that they can develop their activity in the best conditions,” emphasizes Andrés Stinga.
The Councilor for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries affirms that "at the beginning of the summer the machine was sent to the vicinity of the Guatiza service station to repair a road and in September the Los Ancones road was repaired". Therefore, Stinga maintains that "the government group of the Teguise City Council is lying when it implies that the Cabildo does not treat all municipalities equally."
“Please coordinate in your statements”
Likewise, the councilor reminds the mayor of Teguise and his government group that "the Cabildo has two machines to repair agricultural roads in coordination with the city councils. One of them is currently in Haría, given that it is a municipality that has a large number of agricultural roads, while the other is rotating through the other municipalities."
Finally, Andrés Stinga asks the councilors of the Canary Coalition in Teguise “to please coordinate and agree on their statements, since last June Eugenio Robayna stated that dirt and sand roads were being reconditioned with the collaboration of leveling machines from the Cabildo, words that his colleague, councilor Olivia Duque, now contradicts."
