The San Bartolomé City Council has announced that it will install a network of signs at the entrances to the municipality with the aim of "clearly transmitting" its commitment against gender violence and its fight for equality.
This initiative arose through the meeting held by the City Council with the island director of the State Administration, Pedro Viera, and the head of the Women's Violence Unit, Margara Bello, where, among other topics, the proposal to express the commitment against gender violence through a signage network was presented, aimed at those municipalities that want to join this initiative, which will be financed by the State Administration.
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, has pointed out that the municipality “has committed to adding these signs to its entrances, which will be placed on the sides of the access roads where we express our responsibility in the fight against gender violence”.
In addition, he stated that “in recent years we have made great progress as a society to end gender violence, and the installation of these symbolic elements will also allow us to remember that every day we must continue working on it”.
For her part, the Councilor for Equality and Youth, Mónica de León, has recognized “the great importance of these gestures that represent a declaration of intentions that we are not going to tolerate any type of aggression based on gender”.
