The San Bartolomé City Council has developed, during the years 2021-2022, actions that are included in three programs aimed at fighting against the social scourge of gender violence.
These programs have been carried out within the framework of the Programs for the "Awareness and Visibility of the fight against Gender Violence"; the "Empowerment of women as the backbone of the elimination of inequalities" as well as through actions in "Prevention of Gender Violence and Awareness in Equality and the training of personnel and public policies applied", by virtue of the development of new or expanded powers reserved to local entities in the State Pact against Gender Violence 2021-2022.
The State Pact Against Gender Violence (December 2017) is a programmatic agreement that originally contemplates a commitment to distribute economic funds to all municipalities that meet the requirements, in a period of five years 2018-2022, tries to be sustainable over time and obtain an indefinite character until completing the transition towards real and effective equality as towards the eradication of gender violence.
The objectives that are sought to be implemented from the San Bartolomé City Council with the development of these policies are to "raise awareness and involve society in the fight against gender inequalities and empower women by making their role visible in all professional and personal areas of society, to eliminate inequalities and violent actions related to gender."
Another of the objectives, according to the City Council, is "to raise awareness of equality and inform people of the action protocols in case of violence against women; promote safe environments and bring services closer to victims", in addition to "training professionals in the intermediation and coordination of care for victims of gender violence and proposals for equal treatment between women and men, eliminating the set of unacceptable behaviors and practices."
Programs and actions in San Bartolomé
Among the actions executed by the San Bartolomé City Council, in the period from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022, are:
San Bartolomé raises awareness and makes visible the fight against gender violence and equality between men and women (November 2021 to May 2022). In which the 8M and 25N campaigns were developed against the elimination of Gender Violence and the elimination of inequalities between Women and Men, a program that was launched with the exhibition of images of women highlighted for their professional career in the municipality. In addition, the special edition of the book "30 Canary women to change history" by Iván Carlos Temprano was made, and a practical workshop was held to empower women.
San Bartolomé prevents gender violence and raises awareness of equality between women and men (March to June 2022). Project in which the Violet Points were launched for information and prevention; the educational project "Get Involved in Class" was developed, on sexual affective relationships with a gender perspective. The Drawing Contest was also held in Secondary Schools on the design of the corporate image for the Equality area of the City Council.
San Bartolomé trains its public employees in matters of gender violence and male-female equality (May to June 2022). This is a project in which specialized training was developed for public employees in the areas of Social Services and Equality of the San Bartolomé City Council. General training was also offered on awareness, action and prevention in gender violence and equality to public employees from different areas of the City Council.
On the other hand, technical advice was developed in terms of Planning and Protocols for Equality in the Organization as well as its publicity.
