The San Bartolomé City Council has demanded that the Canary Islands Government "stop hindering and act seriously" in the project for the construction of the new Playa Honda Health Center. The council has issued a press release after receiving a new requirement made by the institution to "modify the land transfer, which the Council already carried out, for the implementation of the infrastructure."
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, has denounced "the lack of commitment and vision" that the Canary Islands Government is showing with this request, which has forced the land transfer for the construction of the center to be brought back to the municipal plenary session. On this occasion, according to what they have shown, "it has been required to modify the ownership, established until now for the Ministry of Health, so that it is expressed to the Autonomous Community, for its subsequent assignment to the Canary Health Service."
A situation that the mayor has considered "a mockery of the residents of Playa Honda and the municipal corporation, who have acted rigorously in each and every one of the requests that have been made for this project, so necessary for the municipality, and who have shown their willingness to any circumstance that is of municipal competence."
Isidro Pérez has urged the Canary Islands Government to "seriously consider the project and stop using it with political interests" that have nothing to do with the needs of the citizens. “It gives the feeling that within the administration itself there is a great lack of coordination, since it is not acceptable for the City Council to make a modification of these characteristics in the land transfer, which seems to us a deception and a ridiculous excuse that gives the feeling that it seeks to hinder the start-up of the work,” he stated.
Finally, Pérez pointed out that "the City Council has put everything in its power so that the residents of Playa Honda have an infrastructure as soon as possible that responds to their needs, giving the land free of charge, modifying the regulations and ordinances so that the project can be carried out and we are only waiting for the Ministry to put the work out to tender."
