The Populars chose Casa Ajei to present their candidacy for the San Bartolomé City Council, headed by the current Sports Councilor of the Cabildo and president of the Local Committee, Lorenzo Reyes. They also did so symbolically to defend the heritage resources of the municipality and the need to value the properties that either house municipal services, as is the case of Casa Ajei or the Casa Mayor Guerra itself, which is closed".

"It is sad to see how two such unique properties are neglected or unused when they could be magnificent tourist attractions for the municipality for all those who visit the island," said Lorenzo Reyes. "We cannot just stay at the entrance and exit door of the nearly three million annual visitors that Lanzarote receives, but we have enough resources to awaken their interest and boost the local economy and generate employment."

Reyes referred to the many breaches that the PSOE has accumulated in successive governments during the last 12 years and that have their maximum exponents in the sports and accessibility fields. "If the residents give us their trust on May 26, we are going to focus on making San Bartolomé a fully accessible municipality, starting with Plaza León y Castillo and the sidewalks of Playa Honda itself, which are in a deplorable state."

"We have one of the most extensive beaches on the island and yet it is totally underutilized, considering that, together with Avenida de Playa Honda, they are exceptional places for the development of sports and leisure activities, especially the beach, which allows for diverse uses on a permanent basis."

Among the actions planned by Lorenzo Reyes' team is also a special attention to small businesses, which have been forgotten by the municipal government, and which, among the many problems that affect them, is the lack of parking."

"Our commitment to the residents stems from work, humility and closeness, which we want to bring to the government of San Bartolomé," Reyes pointed out.

Precisely those values were defended both by the candidate for the Cabildo, Jacobo Medina, and by the leader of the Lanzarote Populars and candidate for Parliament, Astrid Pérez. During his speech, Medina extended his hand to Lorenzo Reyes, assuring that when he is president "San Bartolomé will have my support from minute one, as I will also do with the rest of the City Councils through the Cooperation Plans that, according to what he defended, must be established according to the population of each municipality."

The candidate for the Cabildo also had words for nationalists and socialists, whom he described as a "molotov cocktail" for the island. "We already know what we can expect from the Pedro and Loly duo who fight when it suits them and get together when it interests them," so he vindicated the role of the Popular Party as the only reliable alternative government.

For her part, the president and candidate for Parliament, Astrid Pérez, had words of gratitude and congratulations for Lorenzo Reyes and the work he has done during these seven months in the Island Council as Minister of Sports. Pérez took advantage of her speech to denounce the discrimination that Lanzarote has suffered at the hands of the regional government of CC in health and road matters, with clearly insufficient investments compared to islands such as Gran Canaria, Tenerife or La Gomera.

The leader of the PP also stressed "the commitment that her party will make to open commercial areas and the commercial fabric of the island and the capital, which the PSOE despises and insults systematically", in reference to Corujo's words questioning the small businesses of Arrecife.
