The repair works on the pillars of the Youth House of Arrecife have begun this Monday. This was announced by the mayor of Arrecife, Cándido Reguera, after visiting the works, together with the first deputy mayor, José Montelongo, and the councilor for Youth, Joel Delgado.

Reguera expressed his satisfaction with the start of works that represent "the first step for the municipality to once again have a center exclusively for young people." He also announced that "the idea is to include in next year's budgets the necessary item so that, once these works are completed, the second phase of the rehabilitation can be undertaken, with the aim of putting the building into operation as soon as possible."

For his part, the first deputy mayor, José Montelongo, emphasized the need for Arrecife to have a place for young people. "Youth is a very important sector among the residents of the municipality and is, without a doubt, deserving of special treatment," he said.

The works of this first phase will consist of repairing the pillars of the building. In this sense, the rehabilitation works of the columns of the Youth House, which has a budget of nearly 40,000 euros, will have an execution period of 10 months.

Reference point

The rehabilitation of this building, located in the back of the Red Cross headquarters in Arrecife, has been from the beginning "a personal commitment" of Joel Delgado, according to the City Council in a statement. "The young people of Arrecife deserve a reference point within our city," defended the Councilor for Youth.

Therefore, the Department of Youth has opted for the completion of works that will once again turn this building into the headquarters of youth groups and activities, as it was in the past.
