Rancho Texas celebrates Canary Islands Day with a tribute to the Lanzarote natives who founded the State of Texas in 1731

Almost 300 years after those first Canary Islanders founded the first island council and municipal government of Texas, the "Rancho Texas" theme park, located in the municipality of Tías, invites the descendants of those Canary Islanders to its facilities on the occasion of Canary Islands Day, on May 30. And the way to prove the relationship will be to have the appropriate surnames, since those families responded as Leal, Curbelo, Perdomo, Cabrera, Acosta, Santos, Rodríguez, Padrón, Niz, Pérez, Delgado, Granadillo, Acuña, Meleano and De Armas.

After leaving the island and making port in Havana (Cuba), these Lanzarote natives went from there to Veracruz, traveling by land through Mexico and finally arriving at what is now known as Texas, more specifically San Antonio de Texas.
