Students who finish ESO in June at the IES of Playa Honda will not have to enroll in the institutes of Arrecife or San Bartolomé as has happened until now, since they will have a place in their own center. And those who are currently studying high school outside their town will be able to return to the Institute.
The registration period for the next school year will open on Monday, May 12 and according to estimates by the Director of the area in Lanzarote, Juan Cruz, 35 students will join the high school classes. Cruz points out that "the new offer of studies not only benefits the Playa Honda Institute but also has a positive impact on the Centers of San Bartolomé and Arrecife, where students enrolled until this year." In addition, the head of education assures, "it ends the transportation difficulties that these students have to travel to class, given that in the case of San Bartolomé there is not even a public transport system that connects both towns"
The IES of Playa Honda has been in operation for four years and since the beginning of its journey, parents and students contemplated the need to expand the educational offer of the center with high school studies, a request that has finally been considered by the General Directorate of Centers, which understands that the expansion of studies has the guarantee of continuity given the high number of students who come from the Playa Honda School, the largest on the island in terms of the number of students and who are, ultimately, those called to occupy the classrooms of the Institute.
