The councilor of Arrecife Emilia Perdomo is not considering leaving her position, after [the party suspended her membership and opened a disciplinary file->72909]. The councilor responded forcefully this Wednesday on Radio Lanzarote to the decision adopted by the Political Council of the PIL, held on Tuesday evening. "If they dismiss me, I don't care because I have always lived off my work, unlike other people," Perdomo said.
And, in addition, she wanted to give several examples of people who receive salaries from public institutions. "When I hear them say it's for collecting a salary? Yes, yes, okay, I collect a salary, but Fabián Martín is also collecting it, they also wanted to take my salary so that Ana Martín could collect it, Susana Martín is also collecting it, Elena Martín and Saúl Morales and the wife of José Dimas Martín," Perdomo indicated.
The councilor has received "many calls of solidarity" after the decision adopted by her party. "Last night I didn't stop with the phone until 12:00 AM. I received calls from people supporting me, colleagues wanting to leave, who intend to resign. I have encouraged them not to do so, because maybe everything has a solution, although I see it as difficult."
Despite these great discrepancies with her party and with the leadership of the same, Perdomo has assured that she "does not have a foot in the Canary Coalition", that she "is not going to become a defector" and that she will continue in the PIL. "I am not going to enter the government group, because I am not a defector. The day I want to become a defector, they would be the first to find out. I am in the PIL, I continue in the PIL and whatever they do I will continue there. Now, if they want to open a file and dismiss me, it is on their conscience," she stated.
In this sense, she has assured that she has not reached "any agreement" with either the government group or the opposition. "What alternatives are there in the City Council to be able to govern? Either with the opposition or supporting the government group on specific issues that are important for the city. There are no more alternatives and I vote in conscience," she insisted.
"The Political Council is not totally legal"
Perdomo has also explained why she did not attend a meeting of the PIL on Sunday, prior to the plenary session of Arrecife, and why she did not attend the Political Council of the PIL, where it was decided to open a disciplinary file against her. "They did not want to meet with the Arrecife Committee. I think three people met. If the Committee does not meet, who gave those guidelines for the plenary session?" she asked. "And I did not attend the Council because it is not totally legal, because they are not the members who came out of the Congress," she criticized.
But, even, she has invited Fabián Martín, "because the Political Council is him," to "open a file and provisionally dismiss all the members" of this body, who "have been months without going around and are also summoned adequately." "It's the same. I invite him to dismiss them all, because more than half are not attending," she affirmed.
