The Cabildo of Lanzarote will launch a taxi-bus service for the northern area of the island in those towns that are not reached by regular passenger transport, so that residents of towns such as Charco del Palo, Tabayesco or Ye can access the rest of the regular lines that pass through the municipality of Haría.
"This agreement between administrations and the transport sector is a great step to improve mobility throughout the island, and a measure that seeks to solve the problems that currently affect public transport," said the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort.
The measure, announced by the Councilor of the Transport Area of the Island Corporation, Domingo Cejas, and which will be launched in April, has been agreed with the mayor of the Haría City Council, the taxi sector of said municipality and the company holding the concession for regular passenger transport, and will be developed through the signing of an agreement between the concessionaire company and the taxi drivers who join with the endorsement of the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
For his part, the Councilor of Transport of Haría, Marcos Lemes, celebrates that "this measure addresses the demands of the residents of the municipality, including all the towns in the north in the island's regular transport network."
Councilor Domingo Cejas assures that "this action is open to all the municipalities of the island that make municipal taxi licenses available, as the Haría City Council has done with the aim of providing public transport coverage to one hundred percent of the towns of Lanzarote."
The initiative is part of the actions contemplated in the 'Island Mobility Plan' which aims to improve the public transport service in all municipalities.
