Nueva Canarias San Bartolomé celebrated International Environment Day with a collective meeting to collect "basuraleza". Last Saturday, the party members met in the surroundings of the Casa Mayor Guerra with the aim of “contributing” to the sustainability and cleanliness of the municipality. “We wanted to express a discomfort and a demand. San Bartolomé is dirty and needs to improve its cleanliness and its accesses”, said Pablo Yebra, spokesman for the municipal committee,

The Canaristas are committed to advancing in the improvement of waste collection and cleaning, since they believe “that this public service is not being carried out effectively. "Both in urban centers and in areas surrounding the town such as roads and paths we see a lot of uncollected garbage”, they point out from Nueva Canarias, from where they have taken different photos that "reflect the existing basuraleza in plains, roads and open fields". "The PSOE wants to sell us an exemplary municipality in terms of sustainability, but the reality is a San Bartolomé that is increasingly neglected”, considers Pablo Yebra.

Faced with this, NC demands a plan for sustainability and urban care, in accordance with the requirements set by the EU. “The mayor has announced the incorporation of San Bartolomé into the EU mayors' pact. It must be remembered that membership is not permanent, but that municipalities can be withdrawn if they do not meet the requirements. Currently, the municipality does not meet the requirements to be an environmentally exemplary municipality”, they maintain from the party..

"It seems that they are talking about a green pact from the mouth, to appear in photos. A global planning is needed. That the green pact is present in all areas of management”, adds NC, which believes that "it is necessary to plan the model of municipality that we want", creating "an environmental plan that includes concrete actions, indicators and perspectives of public policies".
