The Local Committee of Nueva Canarias in San Bartolomé expresses to the City Council its "concern for the paralysis and slowness in the completion of different municipal works." NC cites as an example the case of the Montaña Blanca Sociocultural Center, which "after several years of publicizing its remodeling, the work was tendered in February 2021 within the Municipal Cooperation Plan of the Island Council of Lanzarote with an amount of 440 thousand euros and with a duration of six months", and still, "almost two years" later, it is still unfinished.
The Canarian nationalists have received "some complaints from residents of the town" regarding the fact that the facilities "could have been inaugurated months ago", and that "this delay is causing the new work to deteriorate".
“Inexplicable and lacking all logic to allow a recently renovated facility to deteriorate for some unknown reason. The only reason that I think can explain it is the electoral eagerness to take the photo close to the elections,” says the spokesperson for the Local Committee of NC in San Bartolomé, Pablo Yebra.
Another of the works that according to the Canarian nationalists is being delayed in time is the El Islote Sociocultural Center, which was tendered in 2021 and awarded in February of this year. The organization points out that "they do not understand what intentionality is causing works that aim to improve the facilities for the enjoyment of citizens to be done at the end of the legislature in a hurry and with the negative consequences that this produces for the quality of the work and the use of citizens."
All in all, NC considers it necessary that "teleclubs once again become environments of coexistence for all citizens, and that they offer a space for leisure and culture." For this, they point out, "they must be closed for the shortest possible time given their great importance for the neighborhood fabric of San Bartolomé" and add that "teleclubs are the true palaces of the people of Lanzarote."
