"Not one more life, respect and safety." That is the motto of the national motorcycle demonstration that will take place on Saturday, November 10, against the guardrails installed throughout the national road network, which pose "a very serious danger" to motorcyclists, as indicated by the Collective of this type of driver in Lanzarote.
Therefore, all motorcyclists on the island have been summoned at 12:30 in the morning next Saturday at the Fairgrounds. In the peninsula, they will depart from all the Autonomous Communities towards Madrid, in protest, to join at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
The island association denounces the "autism" of the authorities, "who pretend not to see the problem." And it is that a guardrail can amputate a person who collides with it. The collective indicates that 44% of the deaths of this type of driver are caused by these "blades" and that for years there have been approved solutions to solve this serious problem, which are placed on existing guardrails, preventing the motorcyclist from colliding with the post and exerting a cushioning function of the blow due to its flexibility.
They also criticize the General Directorate of Traffic, pointing out that "society ignores its danger because the DGT simply systematically omits the data", and "demand effective solutions, improvements in infrastructure, elimination of black spots, effective road education, real learning when obtaining the permit and the application of current European regulations regarding road paints (non-slip)".
Among the most drastic cases are that of a 41-year-old woman who was cut in half in the Basque Country and that of a Civil Guard who was beheaded in Madrid while working.
