"Mémora Lanzarote", the first funeral home-crematorium on the island, has opened its doors this Thursday. The facility is located on the Arrecife-San Bartolomé general road number 48, in warehouse 1.
With an investment of 900,000 euros, the funeral home has a processing office, a reception, four wake rooms, a crematorium, a thanatopraxy room and a parking lot for families. The facility is already operational and open 24 hours a day, so that families can stay there as long as they want, according to the manager of the El Calero funeral home, José Manuel Sicilia.
Sicilia has assured that "it was about time that a facility of this type was put in Lanzarote", which has become the first to bring together a funeral home and a crematorium on the island.
The inauguration of "Mémora Lanzarote" was attended by the Minister of Social Welfare of the Cabildo, Marci Acuña, the councilors of Arrecife Rafael Juan González, Joel Delgado, Cándido Reguera and Pedro de Armas, the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, and the councilor of the same municipality Antonio Morales, as well as the councilor of Teguise Olivia Duque.
