Marci Acuña, a member of the electoral list led by Oswaldo Betancort as a candidate of the Canarian Coalition to the Cabildo of Lanzarote, marks the implementation of a new model of social care based on proximity, empathy and support for the third sector, among the priorities that the government that emerges from the polls on May 28 must assume.

“Our intention is to change the erratic course that has characterized social policies in Lanzarote and La Graciosa during the last four years”; a course that, as Acuña assures, has completely forgotten to manage everything related to social affairs on the island of Lanzarote, leading to the non-construction on the island of any planned socio-sanitary infrastructure, among them the most symbolic: the High Requirement Residence for the Elderly in Tahíche.

Convinced that the objective is to work and that the main government of the island stops turning its back on the real problems that the most vulnerable people of Lanzarote have, Marci Acuña insists on the need to activate a forgotten Plan of socio-sanitary infrastructures as soon as possible.

“In addition to the Tahíche residence, we have to talk about a residence in Yaiza and improve the day stay places in the seven municipalities, with family respite centers and, of course, insularize the Home Help. Only in this way will we end the precariousness and low quality of that service and the same quality of service will be given to all the people who require it in Lanzarote”, he says.

Likewise, the nationalist candidate stresses that the new model of social care that the Canarian Coalition will apply will go hand in hand with those entities that have provided and provide service to the most vulnerable citizens of the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. “We don't know any other way to work than to go hand in hand”, he asserts.

Thus, he insists that the social agreement will be the legal model that will be applied, especially with those entities declared of public utility and with those that manage public places on the island.

In this line, Marci Acuña emphasizes that inclusion will be the main protagonist in all facets of the new island government that, he assures, will be led by the Canarian Coalition.

“We are going to create a Ministry of Inclusion and we are committed to creating an island Directorate of Inclusion that will cover all facets, all activities carried out by the Cabildo and will oversee all government actions, evaluating ourselves in compliance with this requirement, this need we have to govern and manage public affairs for all citizens”.

Thus, he adds that the nationalists have already taken the first step: “Having included in our electoral program an easy reading format for all those people who have some type of disability, being also the only party that we have presented and delivered it, can give society an idea of what our line of work is going to be”, he stresses.
