Luis Morales has announced that he is leaving Coalición Canaria. The former councilor and deputy mayor of Arrecife is thus leaving the party in which he has been a member for more than 23 years. Morales has made his resignation public through his personal Facebook page, with a writing in which he has been especially harsh with the CC board, with which he says he no longer identifies and that has stopped representing him. He joins the also former councilor Encarna Páez who, after having been a member of CC since 1997, announced last week that she had left the party and would campaign with another formation.
"The distancing of those allegedly responsible for the party, from the horizon that represents the objectives of this political formation, means that the differences with the parties that only obey Madrid, remain mere aesthetic elements, which undoubtedly, make the nationalist reference of this country, in a mere bazaar, of spurious interests of certain economic sectors of this island, which undoubtedly, are far from the multiple needs of the Canarian citizens, plagued by unemployment, economic problems, housing etc". With this forcefulness Morales referred in his writing to the board of what until now had been his party.
The former deputy mayor of Arrecife refers in the text to "the occupation of the space of militancy by orchestrated managers", of whom he affirms that "from the institutions they fabricate clientelist networks through the sale of public assets, as the only means of skirting legality in public employment and facilitating permanence in power, far from the neighborhood and assembly spirit that characterized Coalición Canaria".
Morales also harshly criticizes the "scarcity of political proposals that revive hope and illusion in citizens", which he considers has been replaced "by that of mere managers with few dedication functions and concentrated on the setback that may occur in the next electoral confrontations, in the articulation of pacts where in no case pursue objectives in sight beneficial to the social majority". There are also reproaches for the "so-called leaders of the organization". Morales believes that some of them are "in places other than where they have to carry out their dedication, prostituting that flag of 'another way of doing politics', making good those who passed previously, with disloyal accomplices while the responsible emigrants are outside the island area".
"For all these reasons and some more, those who say they lead Coalición Canaria, have stopped representing me, I no longer identify myself, and practicing the only right that can be exercised in this formation today with guarantees, I request my definitive resignation from Coalición Canaria", Morales concludes.
