The Local Police of Tías has carried out more than 30 thousand actions during the past year, of which 6,650 correspond to complaints that the inhabitants of the municipality filed with this security force, according to the Annual Report of this Police, which was made public this Thursday. The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, attended the event and praised the work of these agents. "As mayor of this municipality, I want to recognize the work that this group is doing and show them the support that our neighbors send us," said the mayor during the presentation of this report.
According to the data provided, it can be observed a decrease in the actions that the Local Police of Tías had to carry out in the theft of people, since it decreased by 50% compared to 2004. It can also be seen a downward trend in theft in establishments, since it is 30% less than the previous year. Despite these figures, the set of actions against property is approximately the same as during the past year.
Regarding the accidents registered in 2005, a total of 662 actions were carried out by the agents of the Local Police of Tías, which represents a decrease of 15% compared to 2004. Of these accidents, 404 were traffic accidents, 59 fires, 19 related to missing persons and 173 assistance services.
The actions in cases of violence were those that registered an upward trend, since there was an increase of 2.4% compared to the previous year. The highest figure in these interventions occurred in the chapter related to disturbances in coexistence, which amount to 169, although this figure has decreased compared to the past year. Secondly, there are fights and riots and, in last position, aggressions.
In addition, this security force has carried out 132 interventions for drug use and crimes against public health, almost all due to alcohol consumption on public roads. Also, the Local Police of Tías has arrested 4 illegal immigrants as a result of the interception of a boat.
Investments for the coming years
During the celebration of the presentation of the Annual Report of the Local Police of Tías, the mayor of the municipality also made public a series of projects that will be launched to improve the security work carried out by this body.
Specifically, José Juan Cruz stated that for the coming year an investment of more than 180,000 euros will be made to improve communication between the police officers and their superiors. "In addition, a remodeling of the lower part of the Police facilities will also be carried out so that they can carry out their work more effectively, if possible," said the first mayor of Tías.
