The Cabildo of Lanzarote has announced the tender for the management of the Yaiza Minors Center, an essential resource dependent on the Cabildo aimed at offering shelter and comprehensive care to minors in situations of helplessness. The contract, with a base bidding budget of 1,690,025.76 euros (exempt from IGIC), has an initial duration of two years, extendable for another two, and ensures continuous service 24 hours a day, all year round

The Yaiza Minors Center, with a capacity for fifteen places distributed in two residential units, offers essential services such as shelter and coexistence, accommodation and maintenance, social, educational and health care, school monitoring, leisure and free time activities, and health protection, among others.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, emphasizes the relevance of this resource. “Our commitment to the most vulnerable children and adolescents of Lanzarote is absolute. With this tender, we guarantee not only a safe and protective environment for these minors, but also comprehensive care that promotes their personal development and their full integration into society.”

For her part, the Councilor for Social Welfare and Inclusion, Marci Acuña, highlights that “the Yaiza Minors Center is a fundamental pillar in our social protection network. This contract ensures that each child attended receives the necessary support to overcome adverse situations and build a future full of new opportunities.”

The Social Welfare and Inclusion Area of the Cabildo is committed to a smaller and more familiar reception center model, which allows offering the necessary specialization to address the differentiation of educational work with minors, taking into account their specific needs. To this end, there is a team of twenty professionals who, through educational intervention, seek to achieve the objectives programmed with adolescents.

The initiative is part of the powers established by Law 1/1997 on Comprehensive Care for Minors and Decree 40/2000, which regulate the management of care centers for minors in the Canary Islands. With this tender, the Cabildo complies with the principle of normalization, ensuring that the minors attended enjoy an environment of coexistence similar to the family one, with full access to essential community services in education, health and leisure.

Companies interested in this tender can submit their offers until January 7, 2015 through the link of the State Contracting Platform.
