The Cabildo of Lanzarote has promoted the celebration of the multidisciplinary show 'The Eternal Desdemona', an event that was developed to pay tribute to the Lanzarote writer Ángel Guerra on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth and also to Mararía, for the 30 years of the founding of the Social and Cultural Association for Women that bears her name. The event took place this Wednesday, June 5, at the Víctor Fernández Gopar El Salinero Theater.
The Councilor of the Publications Service, Ascensión Toledo, thanked the Social and Cultural Association for Women Mararía for their participation and highlighted that "this proposal, while honoring Ángel Guerra, emphasizes the value of the complicated role of women throughout history in society."
The show began with a talk about the image of women in the writer's literature interspersed with a recital of texts by the Lanzarote writer by secondary school students and the Insular Center for Musical Education. It was given by the researcher Zebensuí Rodríguez, and highlighted the feminine approach with analysis of texts that reflect Guerra's position on gender inequality.
Once the conference was over, a theatrical representation of 'The Peace' was carried out, directed by the television director, Quino Falero. This work is inspired by one of Ángel Guerra's texts, which reflects the concept of female sorority through a group of women who dedicated themselves to the collection of orchilla in Lanzarote.
