The top officials of the Lanzarote Tourism Board will attend the Holiday World Fair, which will be held from January 24 to 27 in Dublin. At this fair, the Minister of Tourism, María José Docal, and the director of the Board, Héctor Fernández, have scheduled several meetings with the main intermediation agents of the Irish market, in addition to a meeting with the Foreign Office of Dublin, belonging to Turespaña.
With the intention of seeking joint promotion lines for the maintenance of this tourist market, in addition to obtaining socioeconomic information from Ireland, these meetings will take place. Likewise, the Board will attend the gala and awards ceremony for the best tourist destinations of the year, organized by the "Irish Travel Trade", in which the island of Lanzarote is nominated as the best sun and beach destination.
According to data from the Cabildo, once the figures for the year 2007 have been confirmed, the Irish market is consolidated as the third most important country in terms of tourist arrivals to Lanzarote. Throughout the past year, the percentage of visitors increased by 5.95%, reaching more than 210,000 tourists from this country.
