The Cabildo of Lanzarote has received the students who obtained the best grades in the Baccalaureate Evaluation for Access to University (EBAU) on the island. Marina Armas Morales, from IES San Bartolomé, and Ricardo Curbelo Matos, from IES Las Maretas are the two students who participated in the event this Tuesday, after having obtained a score of 9.65.
The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, personally congratulated both students, who were also received by the island councilor of Education, Ascensión Toledo; the island director of Education, Carmen Pellón; the director of IES San Bartolomé, Yeray Alcorac, and the vice-rector of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) David Sánchez.
Betancort highlighted the effort and determination of Marina Morales and Ricardo Curbelo, after congratulating them on their success in their studies, a congratulation that he extended to their families for supporting them during this academic stage. Likewise, the president valued the quality of public education on the island, which plays a crucial role in the academic success of the students. "Knowledge is the only tool to face the challenges of life," he added.
For her part, Ascensión Toledo also praised the students for the excellence of their records. "They are a pride for the island and an example of effort and tenacity. I wish them the best for their professional future," she said.
Likewise, the vice-rector of the ULPGC David Sánchez, also conveyed his congratulations to the students, highlighting an important fact that reflects the high level of the students on the island: "94% of the students passed the tests with notoriety, and with those results, they will be able to access almost any career ensuring a bright future," he concluded.
