The mayor of Yaiza, José Francisco Reyes, will testify next Monday, October 10, in the Court Number 4 of Arrecife from 10:00 a.m., as a result of a complaint filed by a resident of the town of Uga whose works for the raising of a wall on his private property were sealed by the first mayor.
Reyes is accused of a crime of prevarication after he ordered, according to the complaint, the paralysis and sealing of the works of the wall alleging an expiration file of license, granted apparently in 1999.
In this way, the nationalist leader would have allegedly violated a final judgment that the courts issued in 2002 for the administrative litigation that the same neighbor filed.
Expiration of license
As lavozdelanzarote.com has learned, since then the mayor of Yaiza has tried to paralyze them at least twice. Once Reyes allegedly contravened said judgment, the neighbor of Uga availed herself of the criminal route, and on Monday the mayor of Yaiza will have to go to court for an oral hearing accused of a crime of prevarication for the signing of decrees of paralysis against the aforementioned wall that was intended to be raised.
The curious thing about the case, to the surprise of jurists and politicians, is that José Francisco Reyes has argued before a neighbor of his municipality that the building permit that authorized the construction of the wall has "expired" to decree with that foundation the sealing of the works because, as this editorial office has learned, the Yaiza City Council maintains in all the lawsuits it has against the Cabildo for the building permits that authorized thousands of tourist places in Playa Blanca (in which the Cabildo argues that the works could not be carried out precisely because many of those licenses had expired) that the building permits do not expire in that municipality, to the point that in some of the judicial proceedings that the Cabildo maintains against that municipal corporation the Yaiza City Council has reported that from 1997 to today it has not initiated any file to declare the expiration of building permits that authorized tourist complexes in the municipality.
This makes the case of the wall license denounced by the neighbor who has gone to the criminal route has opened the maximum expectations, as this would be the only building permit that the aforementioned City Council would have declared expired.
