Islas Airways has resumed operations "at half throttle" this Wednesday, after having to cancel its operations on Tuesday due to the decision of the workers, who did not go to their jobs because they had not been paid for months. For the moment, the company has suspended the Lanzarote-Tenerife route from this Wednesday, which would mean leaving "about 80 or 90 people" stranded daily, according to Juan Carlos Ferrer from Viajes La Molina. The route that is maintained is Lanzarote-Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, although it is unknown what will happen in the company from Monday.
Ferrer stated on Radio Lanzarote that "now nobody knows what will happen from Monday onwards." "The intention is to continue normally, but the situation is quite critical and we don't know what will happen. Islas Airways has been struggling for some time and there comes a point when things stop. Hopefully the situation will be resolved," he said, although he sees it as "difficult" for the airline to continue.
Juan Carlos Ferrer has assured that he is experiencing this situation "with sadness" due to the possible closure of the company, something that is still "unknown." Ferrer pointed out that at the moment it is the customer who "has to bear the brunt," since if they are stranded, they must purchase another plane ticket and request a refund from Islas Airways.
In this travel agency, they are trying to solve the flight of about 50 people, who had a ticket purchased for next Monday from Lanzarote to Tenerife. "We will try to fix it," Ferrer said.
For Ferrer, the possible closure of the airline "is bad for everyone." "Without this airline, the other company Binter is left alone and the competition, therefore, changes," he said, fearing that the prices of plane tickets between the islands may rise.
