The Ministry of the Interior has cautiously withdrawn the subsidy of 22,757 euros that it paid to Nueva Canarias every quarter for the results it obtained in the 2019 elections, in application of the decision by which the formation was expelled from the Registry of Parties.

According to "La Provincia" and "El Día", which reproduce the official document with the resolution, the General Directorate of Interior Policy has ordered that the quarterly payments that were paid to NC be withheld from July 1: 21,646 euros for operating expenses and 1,111 for security expenses.

Nueva Canarias lost its registration in the Registry of Political Parties by virtue of a final judgment of June 2021 of the Central Court of Contentious Administrative number 5 of the National Court for not having updated its statutes as required by the Organic Law of 2015 of political parties within the three years of authorized period.

The ruling ensures that on January 23, 2020, NC was formally warned of this situation, without responding in time.

Party leaders have explained on several occasions that they never received any notification about this legal procedure, of which they were not even a party, something they have attributed to a possible error, because they moved headquarters.

In addition, they maintain that the update of their statutes was sent to the authorities "after celebrating the fourth NC congress" (2017) and that, in April of this year, they sent a new update approved at their last congress.

Dated August 30, this political force, which is part of the Government of the Canary Islands and chairs the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, has re-registered in the Registry of Parties with the name of "Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista".

Nueva Canarias also has another file open for not having sent to the Court of Accounts and published on the transparency website its accounts for several years.

When its expulsion from the Registry of Parties was known, on July 25, its Secretary of Organization, Carmelo Ramírez, publicly acknowledged that they had had "problems" to prepare their accounts and that, to that date, they had not yet delivered to the supervisory bodies their accounting for 2018, 2019 and 2020.
