The Blas Cabrera Felipe Secondary Education Institute (IES) in Arrecife will have a new shade element in its backyard next year.
With this initiative, the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, directed by Poli Suárez, assures that there will be "better study and recreation conditions for students, who now have adequate protection against the intense solar radiation that affects the island of Lanzarote at certain times of the year."
The work, with an investment of 38,000 euros and executed in a period of two months by the company Aluminios Estudios S. L., has been supervised by the Technical Construction Unit of Las Palmas, dependent on the General Directorate of Infrastructure and Equipment, which coordinates Iván González.
This intervention is part of the monitoring and coordination work of the remodeling that is being carried out in the educational centers of the archipelago, with the commitment to adapt the infrastructures to offer students "an environment conducive to their academic and personal development."
With the installation of this shade element, meteorological incidents in school activity will be avoided and students will be able to carry out study or leisure activities in an area protected from both the sun and the rain.
It should be remembered that Lanzarote is one of the islands with the highest radiation levels and episodes of high temperatures and haze in the archipelago, which increases the need for roofs and shade, as well as more naturalized spaces.
In this way, the department directed by Poli Suárez assures that it "continues working to ensure that all centers in the Canary Islands have adequate facilities and resources for quality education in safe and pleasant environments. This project at the IES Blas Cabrera Felipe is an example of the collaborative work carried out by the current government team, in its commitment to the continuous improvement of education in the archipelago."
